What have I (Robin) learned
about personal branding? I could list up all the topics we as a group have
covered throughout the semester, but I will use my last blog post to describe
how I will use my new knowledge in the future.
Branding used to solely refer to distinguishing a manufacturer’s product from others. With the growth of the Web, especially social media, it has branched to personal branding, or the development of a person’s image to employers, networking connections and ultimately anyone online.
So what about these online portfolios makes them special? Part of it is their design, but a major component is content. The best online portfolios include a logo, tagline, resume, bio, contact information and their own domain name. Most importantly, they fit the person's personal brand.
The class assignment this week has been to find blogs with a similar topic to ours. Here are five blogs on personal branding we are following.
“My task, which I am trying to achieve is, by the power of the written word, to make you hear, to make you feel - it is, before all, to make you see.” ― Joseph Conrad, Lord Jim
