Follow us, follow them: 5 personal branding blogs we recommend

The class assignment this week has been to find blogs with a similar topic to ours. Here are five blogs on personal branding we will follow throughout the semester.

1. http://studentbranding.com/

The Student Branding blog targets high school, college and graduate students. It talks about how to build a strong network before your college career ends, write a powerful resume and how students can brand themselves to get in a position to land their desired job. The 21 contributors to this blog include experienced college career counselors and recent graduates.

2. http://www.prepary.com/

Prepary was launched in 2012 by Jaime Petkanics, whose background is in Human Resources and Recruiting. The goal of the blog is to share reliable and straightforward job search advice from the point of a recruiter to help people get jobs and internships.

3. http://www.thepersonalbrandingblog.com/

William Arruda, dubbed the guru of personal branding by the media, has worked with companies such as IBM, JP Morgan, Microsoft, Disney and American Express. He partners up with other branding strategists to produce the content of this blog, which include anything and everything about personal branding.

4. http://careerenlightenment.com/

Career Enlightenment was started by Joshua Waldman in 2009. He’s the man behind the book “Job Searching with Social Media for Dummies.” Branching off the book, his blog is about how to find a job using social media. Taking a different approach, this blog is written using research from interviews and case studies. It is currently a nominee for the “About.com Readers Choice Award” in the category of the best career blog, with the winner announced March 27.

5.

If you have a common name, you will find this blog most helpful. Brand Yourself focuses on improving a person’s online reputation by giving advice on how to improve social media, SEO and move up on a Google search. The blog is aimed at people who have a hard time finding internships or jobs because other people have same name, which may or may not have done bad deeds, showed up on search engines before they did.

  2. Thanks Professor Tuzovic.
The difficult task was to narrow it down to five blogs since there are so many great blogs on this subject.
